Blog Hog: Keep Going!

Oh my gosh, I think the Red Sox are starting to win. We're catching up to the stinkin' Yankees! I'm not sure how to feel. Sorta afraid to get excited, but things are looking up! And Matsuzaka is showing signs of life, as is Carl Crawford. But back to Matsu - he really had a smile of confidence the other day. I was so happy to see that. Keep the good times rolling!

And how about the Celtics? How did the Knicks allow themselves to get swept? I'm not rooting for the Knicks like you probably are, Dear Criss, but do they have no self respect?! Holy cow! Who do we play next?

I know I'm all stream of consciousness today, but I forgot to mention the Boston Marathon, one of the best events of the year. The costumes, the signs, the excitement, the free stuff ... Only the regatta comes close.

Charlie Says

Go ahead, make fun of my 3-10 Sox. I can't believe this is happening. But I will take comfort in Charlie Sheen's advice while on 98.5 The Sports Hub: "I'd tell everybody to shut up, that they'll bounce back. ... Relax."

Looks like the only time we win is if Beckett's on the mound. Can he play five days in a row? And then there's a blog posting on NESN.com indicating that maybe it would help the team to have (ahem - newly engaged) Varitek behind the mound a little more. As we know, the team does do better statistically when this is the case. And watch out! Varitek threw out a runner yesterday. Nice job for the so-called old man.

Not to go into this right now, but why did they give Adrian Gonzalez that huge contract extension with big $ when we're 3-10?

As for the NBA playoffs - just beat the Heat! And looks like Shaq will not be ready for game one tonight with his Celtics. He better hurry up! We need him.

Baseball... the good, the bad and the ugly

Baseball is finally here and I'm writing about it two weeks later, Dear Roxy.

So we lost two out of three to your dirty Sox, but we could be worse... we could be 2-9 like your Sox, hehe. I'll enjoy this one as much as I can for as long as it lasts.

The Yankees are off to a good start. The pitchers and bats are just getting warm, or so I hope. But what's with all of this bashing Jeter? Even a Red Sox fan can appreciate the talent he has. So he's not 25 anymore, but enough already. Let the man play til he thinks it's time to hang it up.

Barry Bonds was found guilty of obstruction and Manny has retired after failing another drug test. Such a shame that two of the greatest players who ever put on a uniform are going out like that.

And Josh Hamilton off to the disabled list. So sad. I hope he comes back healthier than ever!

And in basketball, The NBA playoffs are almost here. That only means it's time to start watching some bball. The Heat will go against the Sixers. Let's see if Lebron, Dwayne, Chris and the rest of the team can pull off a championship in their first year together.

Super Duper Blog Hog: Panic at the Disco

This band name (and album title) sums up my - actually, Red Sox Nation's feelings right now, Dear Criss. Yes, I'm the sports pessimist and am already saying this season is over. I hope they prove me wrong. The only people playing are Pedroia and Beckett, who showed some swagger the other night. 2-9? When did that happen? Bring up all the minor league kids now.

P.S. Happy belated birthday to Varitek!

Super Blog Hog: Nadal, What Happened?

P.S. I forgot to mention that it was really cool seeing Nadal at the Sony Ericsson. What happened? How could he lose to that dude? I was so upset. You'll see that Dwayne Wade and LeBron James were there for the coin toss.

Speaking of upset, another loss for the Sox. Can't wait to play the Yankees.

Blog Hog: NCAA Magic

So the Sox have gotten off to a great start - 0-4. And aren't you happy about it, Dear Criss? Am I surprised or upset? Not really. The better the team looks, the better the names, the worse they play. And I'll use the Varitek card. When he's not playing, they pitch like idiots. And I don't mean the 2004 idiots.

But UConn won the NCAA championships. That's pretty cool. That Kemba kid is going places. The game was low scoring, and UConn made me hold my breath a little bit there. But a win is a win. I wonder how long Calhoun will coach. Three national titles is impressive. If he stays, I think they can get at least one more in the next five years.

Take that Duke!
