Hanging Up the Skates

So, now you're buying stalker deals to sit outside Jeter's house on a boat? But I did like your story about the premie. I just want to point out that the player who stepped up was Justin Masterson, former Red Sox player. Ahem. And he passed a hat around and collected the money? How much money do they carry on them?! Imagine, we can barely collect the $22 in pizza money at work. I guess that's pizza money for them. I love it!

I haven't seen a game in a while. I missed the Tampa Bay one, which doesn't matter because we lost. I hope I don't have to wait for another Red Sox-Yankees game. Drag. But as much as you boasted about being number one, you're back to number two now, Dear Criss!

Finally, it's a little bittersweet to learn that Chris Drury, former Hoby Baker winner, Terrier and NY Ranger, is retiring. Every story I've read about him seems to indicate he's a nice guy. Quiet, not a big shot. Doesn't crave attention. He had a very nice career. Good job, kiddo.

First place, baby!

That's the first time I hear of any bounty Tebow story, Dear Roxy. Weird. I like Tebow though so I hope this is fake... should we snope it?

Back to the good stuff - the Yankees are in first place! CC Sabathia stopped his two-game losing streak and came up big for the Yankees to force themselves into first place! How exciting. I think I like the view from first place, hopefully the Yankees do too!

As speaking of touching stories (on your blog), the Rangers will honor late fan Shannon Stone with a statue of his own; touching tribute to a baseball fan and his family.

But this one touches my heart more than anything. Jack Hannahan from the Indians was able to see the birth of his preemie son thanks to his teammates. How wonderful is this?

Groupon Tampa was offering a boat tour to see Jeter's St. Pete mansion among others. Funny. And no, I didn't buy it.

Blog Hog: Love Story

So I was reading The Boston Globe and found the most adorable story I never knew about the Red Sox. Don't barf, Dear Criss. Did you know that, back in '40s, Mr. and Mrs. Yawkey had their initials written in Morse code on the scoreboard? They would picnic in the outfield when the team was away and listen to the game on the radio. That's sweet.

What's also sweet is that we are close to the new football season starting. Of course, I'm regretting not getting tickets to the Monday night Pats-Dolphins game. One day, we're going to a game at Gillette. And we're gonna have good seats. And we're gonna freeze our rears off. I'm excited about the Ochocinco possibilities this year.

When you resurface, can you please explain what's going on at UM? We had a scandal drought, so I'm not terribly concerned about this one. But what's this about a bounty being placed on Tim Tebow? This story gets more and more twisted.

Prime Time

Don't worry, Dear Criss. I've got things covered. Especially this Red Sox-Yankees series. Hope we can pull 2:3. Your guy, A-Fraud, gets busted for steroids and sketchy poker games, but never gets in trouble. It's crazy!!

But let's talk football. Prime Time Neon Deion Sanders is in the Hall of Fame. Loved his speech. It was great to see him again and all those highlights. I remember all those moments with the 49ers. He was exciting to watch because he was a game changer - and an entertainer. You could count on him to get an interception and do some high-stepping in the end zone. Congrats to him! And let's be honest, besides the accessory, that bust looks nothing like him, as usual with these inductions.

Sad news in sports

Is it me or is the world of sports just full of bad news, Dear Roxy? First of all, my condolences to the family of former Yankee Hideki Irabu and Olympian Jeret Peterson. I hope they found their peace.

I was also reading about Austin Hatch. This kid has been through so much... what a touching/sad story.

In better news, I finally watched Derek Jeter 3K! Just a little reminder on why I admire him soooooo much :) And the Yankees are one game away from first place!

I haven't been paying much attention to football news. All I know is that they're no longer in strike so I can finally get excited about the games, and not all of the BS that comes with it.

U-2o World Cup is been hosted in my Motherland! I'm hoping to catch a game when I get there. Wish me luck in finding tickets.

Don't miss me.
