#602 and Counting Blog Hog

Mariano has done it, Dear Roxy! He is the all-time leader in saves. Now there's no doubt he's the best closer in history, doing what no other man has, and with one team! And doing it all with one pitch - one pitch every batter knows is coming, yet, they can't do anything about it.

You'll find this amusing, Rox, trust me ;) How are you holding up with your Red Sox slowly vanishing lead?

Good times

While AARP member Wakefield was getting win #200 (yawn), Mariano Rivera, the greatest closer in history, was busy saving #600, Dear Roxy! What an amazing accomplishment and feat, and doing so with one team. But wait! It doesn't end there. One more win and he'll tie Hoffman for most all time, and two more to make him #1, a feat I don't think will ever be surpassed. What do you think, Rox?

Speaking of great Yankees, Jeter was honored during the Angels series last weekend. Funny story since they mention the cold-blooded Californians didn't want Jeter to be honored in their hometown. And I'm far behind, but did you hear Jeter passed Mickey Mantle as the team's all-time leader in games played?

And with a few weeks left, the Yankees are holding on to their lead in the East. Is the Red Sox nation nervous about the fighting Rays? Who would've thought this could happen a mere two weeks ago. Certainly not you, hehe.

Congrats to #1 Novak Djokovic in his first US Open Championship. What an exciting match (at least the third set). I can honestly say this guy is amazing. The way he's playing this year is no wonder he's 64-2.

Football is back but Peyton isn't. What a sad time in football... Plus, the Dolphins and Canes aren't doing too well. But hey, there's always the 2-0 FIU Golden Panthers!

Blog Hog: 200

Wakey got his 200th win, Dear Criss. Don't you wish you were a Red Sox fan? Our colors are better, our stadium is better, our fans are better. It's a no-brainer. This is all very nice, but they haven't exactly been consistent in these waning days of the season. The Rays are sneaking up, first place disappeared a while ago, and now we're struggling for the Wild Card spot. Same story all the time.

On to football. Those Denver fans were chanting for Tebow after they blew the game. Did you hear that story? Wow! And the coach claims he didn't hear anything. No way. Not believing that one. Why are there so many Tebow haters? It's as if you love him or hate him. I think he needs to be traded, but where?

Pats Still Have It

Well, Dear Criss, looks like the Pats are taking this one. How could the Dolphins have let Wes Welker go? And did you realize he's 30? I thought he was older than that. (Keep your comments to yourself.) It was a boring game, but somehow whenever ESPN shows the games, it doesn't have the same excitement as it had back on ABC. I know it's the same company, but these are so sleepy. Is it the footage or the announcers? Remember Frank, Al and Dan? And the Hank Jr. opening song? Those were the days.

So, I guess it's safe to go to bed with 2:18 left on the clock.

P.S. Did you see how the Steelers got eaten alive?!

Blog Hog: Wednesday's Game

I'm going to ignore the last game and focus on the Wednesday night Red Sox/Yankees match-up. That was a good one. Didn't go on into the wee hours, Dear Criss, so I went to bed at a fairly decent time. And who could forget Varitek's two-run home run? The guys really played like Red Sox, like the old days. It was good to see. I loved seeing Pedroia dive to get first base. I like to see people hustle to first, because it really does matter.

As for pre-season football, I hate it. And I especially hate players getting injured during these games, like Wes Welker. Nooooo! Neck injury?! He's okay, but let's see what the team says.

And then there's the Beckett Bowl charity event that Varitek attended. Why do the cops look fake in this pic.? Like they're players dressed up for Halloween. Wait, is that Gabe Kaplar?!
