one day of winter...

You weren't the only one, Dear Roxy. I didn't know it either, but the difference between you and me is that I really could care less!

And speaking of the Heat... sort of... they're finally in double-digit wins. They won and in huge fashion!!! Why couldn't they win when I went?
This whole Roger Clemens thing keeps making news. Stop it already. It's getting boring, people!

Baseball is soooo close! I can't wait to sit home on a Saturday afternoon and watch Fox baseball. lol
Oh, did you hear about that hockey fan that won $1 million for making 15 shots in 24 seconds during last night's game? Crazy!!!
And Lebron James is the youngest player to get to 10,000 points! Congrats, Lebron.
I guess I'm just glad Kobe doesn't hold that anymore.

PS: Have a great weekend, Rox. I'll be freezing in Chicago and Milwaukee!

Hail to the Sox

Not only did UM beat Duke, they beat Maryland! At this point, UM could beat the Heat.
I'm taking notes. I gotta do well with my brackets this year at the office, Dear Criss.

So my Sox visited the White House today. And Varitek looks bigger than usual, right? I totally forgot they had to do the traditional visit. Manny didn't make it (don't ask - but Bush pointed it out), and apparently even Bush loves Papelbon's craziness, according to The Boston Globe.

"And how about Jonathan Papelbon? The guy pitches almost as well as he dances. And I appreciate the dress code. Thanks for wearing pants."
But you know what? I think Beckett hit the "punch" a little early himself.

Um, sorry, but I am clearly the only one who didn't know Bartolo Colon was now on the Red Sox.

I went to the Miami Heat game against the Sixers on Saturday night, Dear Roxy. It was an exciting and close game, but not much changed... the Heat loss in overtime!

They couldn't hold on to a 5-point lead with less than 2 minutes to go in regulation... they couldn't hit the game-winning shot... and they couldn't score enough points in overtime. So our boys are 9-44! It seems to me they don't want to break into the double-digits!

Changing the subject just a bit, the Canes won the opening game this weekend. And speaking of the Canes, how about that basketball win against Duke?! Pretty exciting stuff!

Baseball is soooo close, I could almost taste it! And I heard the Yankees will be in town at the end of March for an exhibition game!

Blog Hog: Zach the Pat?

Zach Thomas talking to the Pats, Dear Criss? How about Jason Taylor next? Okay, so far just the first is the word on the street, but how cool would that be to have both of them in New England? That may mean less time for or sidelining one of my faves, so I'm not committed to the idea yet, just flirting with it.

In the meantime, how about picking up the latest issue of Men's Vogue to get to know my buddy Jacoby a little better. Um, I guess he's pretty tough!

What to Watch on Sunday?

So, Dear Criss, about Matsuzaka's apparent mullet... What's the deal, dude? Can some kind-hearted teammate explain that in America, that is so 1984? Oh my.

I clicked on The Globe's Web site and NESN today, and I am so excited about spring training. I suddenly felt the spring training goosebumps that come with the three-hour ride. EEEEEEE!!!! It it looks like Varitek is keeping the Brawny man bearded look. I like the beard. It's cool. I miss the guys. Listen, I got the new NESN 2007 World Series DVD - fantastic.

Check out this pitcher Michael Bowden. Doesn't he look like he could be a hockey player right out of our fave movie? (Or maybe he just kinda looks like Matt Damon.) You know they were showing Miracle last night? I caught the end, and I realized I need to re-fuel on some Miracle watching.
As for Roger, all I'm saying is that if we're throwing people in jail and stripping gold medals, we need to either be consistent or chill out. This is ridiculous.
You have Monday off?!!! What came into them?!

Some cheese

Apparently you are, Dear Roxy. That was insane! I couldn't believe that he skated off! I'm just glad he's doing good. And kudos to everyone for their quick response, too.

And yes, it seems that Roger is in a pickle! Come on, people, leave him alone.

Let's start making plans for a baseball game! And no, I won't attend a Red Sox game unless you attend a Yankee game with me, Rox. This is where I put my foot down in our friendship! ;)

And I'm smelling some Big Cheese! Let's do that, too.

In other news, gosh, I have none. Spygate stuff still coming up... Heat keep losing... what else is new?

Oh, yeah, I have a long President's Day Weekend, too! My first one ever!

Apparently, Hockey is Very Dangerous

Thanks for not sending me the transcripts from the parade speeches, Dear Criss. I still feel like that little puppy, and I still have my half-deflated Patriots balloon floating. Sigh. Guess I'll get rid of it this weekend.

So am I the only one who hasn't seen the Richard Zednick footage on ice? The story sounds absolutely awful, so I'm glad he's okay. What was the play? While we're on the topic of ice, did I ever mention how sad it was the Christopher Bowman died? I know that was in January, but, augh, it's terrible.
Schill? What's the deal with that shoulder? Fix it. Fast.
Okay, so let's think uplifting thoughts for a moment, as I overwhelm myself with election coverage. I'm trying to think happy thoughts...trying...trying...okay, how about spring training?

Not looking good for Roger, my friend. And Shaq? Yeah, that was a little weird, but you know I don't like basketball. Although, I have to admit, I am excited about our college brackets challenge at work. Can't wait.

Here's to a long Presidents' Day weekend!

Stomp on You!

I'm sorry that you're feeling blue, Dear Roxy. Actually, I don't feel that bad... nope, not so much! You've been having pretty good years with your other teams. I think it's time I have fun with mine.

I actually had a chance to watch the Giants parade in NYC and got to hear Strahan's speech. Pretty funny stuff. I'm sure you heard about it so I won't repeat it but here's a picture nonetheless.
In other news, how about that Shaq trade? Out of nowhere it seems. I suppose he got the better end of that deal since he's going to a winning team. He did all he said he was going to do for the Heat so we can't be too mad.
In Yankees news, Robinson Cano signed a contract with them! I'm super happy to know he'll stay and grow as a Yankee just like all of our players who came out of our farm system should.
And did you hear what amenities the new Yankee Stadium is going to have? Top of the line amenities! Crazy. I wish I could go to the All-Star game at the House that Ruth Built, though. One for the memories.

PS: I realized this year is my high school 10-year reunion. Scary thought!

Sad Song

The picture says it all, Dear Criss. I know everyone is a Patriot hater, but you all have to recognize the skills of this team. Seriously. Things didn't click last night, and it looks like the whole season was for naught, but these guys have skills. Guess we'll be hearing about the '72 Dolphins for a while to come. I am so over the Manning love affair folks like you have. I would rather last night be about Brett Favre winning and retiring in glory.

So now I will focus on the Sox. I will put aside my misery and deal with the stress of the Sox. Things are so bad that my co-worker made a "Sorry, maybe next year" sign today. I feel for Junior, Bruschi and the gang. It's the curse of the girlfriends!!!! Don't bring any women to the game unless they're your wives!! Ask Romo.

I am moping.

Happy Birthday to P!

Roxy

A Giant Win!!!

Yes, Dear Roxy, it's true... it wasn't a nightmare... your Pats have lost to the New York Giants! The Giants that had NO chance of winning, the mediocre team, the one with Peyton's little brother, the one whose demeanor was questioned time after time. Yes, THAT team!

And I couldn't be happier for THAT team! Deep inside I knew they could win this... it showed on Week 17. Last night, Brady looked uncomfortable and frustrated! They made him sweat!

The last drive was for the ages. The sack that almost happened, the catch that almost didn't! I mean, in all seriousness, how did Eli get out of there unscathed and throw the ball? How did Tyree catch it... with his helmet?! That's when I knew (or at least hoped) that the Giants were gonna win it! And they did!!!!!
They deserved that win, too. It wasn't handed to them. They played and played hard!

The defense was unbeliviable. That defense won the game! Who would've thought the Pats were going to score just 14 points? Oh yeah, Plaxico Burress! Brady found it funny when he made that prediction. I bet he doesn't think it's that funny anymore.

Manning was a leader and I couldn't be happier for him. I guess he shut everyone who thought he wasn't a leader! Yes, that goes for Tiki Barber!

And I couldn't be happier for Strahan, Plaxico, and even the Giants trainer who's worked in that organization for 48 years! He will retire this year, and with a ring in hand!
Woo-hoo for the Giants! Woo-hoo for the Giants! Woo-hoo for the Giants :)

Giants!

You know what, Dear Roxy? I'm not giving you a break on the Rivers injury/surgery thing... why? Because it takes a lot of heart for someone to have minor surgery in order to play in less than a week! I can name plenty of people who would've sat on their butts and called it a day! Now, if I hear you mention how great Brady is because he's playing with a minor foot sprain, we're fighting!!!

Funny story. My sister called me the other day while she was listening to a Spanish radio station or something. They were talking about the Super Bowl and referred to it as the "Super Tazon"! LOLOLOL. Too funny.

So, the big game is upon us! It can't come fast enough. I'm not sure where I'll be, but I'll be sure to have a "tazon" full of chips next to me!

I totally saw the Jeter Super Bowl commercial online. I keep forgetting how handsome he is :)

And speaking of which, how handsome was Chuck Knoblauch back in his playing days? Super! Not anymore though. He put on a few pounds and he doesn't look like himself anymore. I think he needs to get on the Dan Marino diet.

We're totally fighting Monday!

GO GIANTS
