Tom Brady for Senate

Oh my gosh, Dear Criss! What’s with the shrine to the Cards? Since when were we fans of the Cards? What has happened to you?! I know we didn’t have any baseball, but did you have to go that extent?!! I mean, some self-respect here. Why don’t you just go and throw up random pictures of the Pirates, too.

Guess who’s my current wallpaper at work? So, Tommy pulls off a fantastic victory against the “Purple People Eaters.” Of course, I had to deal with the doubters. Blah, blah. I’m sorry, but did you see him at the end of the game saying hi to his mom? I mean, can he be any nicer? Might as well run for office. It’s just overwhelming. I think he probably volunteers on the weekends with little kids, plays guitar for senior citizens, and walks his grandmother’s dog.

And, yes, Ben might need some R & R in maybe Bermuda or something, where he can relax, have someone cater to him and have a physical therapist on call at a moments notice. I think he needs some meditation with a Buddhist monk, some holy water, and a thicker helmet. But listen, Steve Young had 42 concussions (well, he had a few),. I know it’s not an excuse, but I’m just saying – actually, I don’t know what I’m trying to say with that.

Okay, I’m trying to type this while voting for Emmitt on Dancing with the Stars. But, listen up, next week, it’s you, me, Tommy and Peyton. Forget it! GO PATS!

Roxy

P.S. Ever look up pictures on Google of Tom? Some of them are frightening, like Brokeback Mountain Tom, Ashton Kutcher Tom, New Kids on the Block Tom...

Congrats to the Cards!

I was rooting for the Mets when they were playing the Cards, Dear Roxy. However, when they won against them, I knew who I was rooting for; them! I forgot how much I liked Jeff Weaver when he was a Yankee (although there were moments I would like to forget) and how much I love Mark Mulder (although I haven't seen much of him).
Anyway, Congrats to them and the whole Cardinals organization for their World Series win.

What happen to the Tigers though? The pitchers and their errors? Crazy I tell ya!

And football. I didn't watch any of the games but I did see the Colts highlights. How about that Manning guy?! He's just awesome. Great win.

I don't know what to tell you about your beloved Ben. Maybe he should just call in sick. He will save himself a lot of trouble, and maybe boos.

Happy Halloween to everyone!!!

Get Back, Loretta

Okay, Dear Criss, I promise that I will get better at keeping up with you. I swear, I need to leave work before the cleaning crew gets in. I will. So what's the deal with the QB controversy in Dallas? People? I don't see Drew as a back-up. And the Dolphins - listen, I could re-run my last post. But Ben! Come on, man. Stop getting beat up. No more doctor calls. Can someone throw holy water on him? Maybe a bucket full of it? Maybe he should regrow his old beard.

Dancing with the Stars - Since when can football players dance? Emmitt is making Jerry Rice look bad. That's all I have to say. And we know Jerry was the runner up last year, so...

Who you rooting for in the World Series? Tell. I kinda don't care. Is that okay?

Taking Over

I will take over now. Thank you very much, Dear Roxy. Wow. It's good to be back. Not that I've gone away, but yeah. Does going to Tampa count? 'Cause I did go there this weekend.

Anyway, back to our loveable and huggable blog.

Talking about huggable and loveable, how about that FIU-Miami brawl? Go Golden Panthers! What were they thinking? Oh yeah, they weren't! I must add that UM got the best of it. One indefinite suspension while FIU got like 13 plus 2 players taken out of the football program. That blows! And now they're talking about canceling next year's game. Whoosh!

And baseball... what a painful subject. Ever since my Yankees were disqualified and Cory Lidle and Tyler Stanger passed, I haven't been paying much attention. I do have a team I'm rooting for, but I won't say which one. It'll be my thing ;)

And back to Cory Lidle and his flight instructor, Tyler Stanger. Their deaths put eveything into perspective. Baseball it's just a freakin' game. Their deaths: reality.
For anyone that takes the game to serious - don't! Baseball is just a game... just like football, soccer, basketball and everything in between. It's entertainment. We shouldn't take the game too seriously, because it's just that; a game.

Are You on Vacation?

Where are you, Dear Criss?! I thought for sure you would have taken over by now. How about the Steelers demolishing Kansas City 45-7? What's up with pulling Polamalu by his hair or the Bears with their amazing comeback?! I went to bed thinking da Bears would lose for sure. Perfect season still going. But let's not talk about the Dolphins and how they tottttalllyyy blew that game. They could've tied that and won it. I won't even bother to sometimes care about them. It's maddening. (Pats had a bye week) You know who would be a great Dolphins coach? Steve Mariucci. You heard it from me first. I think he could do it. And who kept saying the Tigers would go to the World Series? Oh, yeah, that was me.

So here's Big Papi at a charity event. Oh, and Theo has an officially signed contract. Please, please, please pull this team back together.

How many cans does it take to balance Ben and his mom? 348. I'm thinking we wouldn't need that much.

Sending Good Thoughts of Sunshine and Flowers

How can I follow up that post, Dear Criss? That was the saddest news. I saw old video footage of him flying and narrating the trip, etc., and you just wonder, How is that possible? This is a real human being and you feel terrible, regardless of who you're rooting for. Like someone said the other day, this isn't the game anymore. The guy wasn't recklessly speeding or doing anything unsavory, just enjoying himself. You wish it didn't have to be this way. So we all wish his family the best, as well as the instructor's.

Cory Lidle

Cory Fulton Lidle
1972 - 2006

As you may have heard, Dear Roxy, Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle died in a plane crash in NYC this afternoon. I remember reading the news when it'd just happened. Later on, my dad was the one that called to me to tell me it was a Yankee who'd died. Unfortunately, Cory's dad also found out through the TV. It's a shame he had to find out that way. I wish Cory's wife, young son, and family my condolences.

I remember when he was traded to the Yankees along with Abreu.

And I remember writing in our blog about how I didn't know much about him but was glad to have him.

Although Cory was a Yankee for a few months, I remember the first game he won for us. It was his first start as a Yankee. And though he wasn't overpowering, he was a good pitcher with a bigger heart.

I remember listening to the story about Giambi and Cory being high school teammates in California and how glad they were to be reunited.

And all we all have now as Yankee fans, sports fan, and as a baseball family, is memories.

Here's to Cory Lidle.

May he rest in peace.

What Happened?

Okay, Dear Criss, I can think of all the in-your-face comments you have made about my Red Sox. The humiliating little snickering in writing. And now, as tempting as it is, I won't say a word about your Yankees who blew it in the ALDS. Not a word about them being out of the series. I will just skip around in glee in private as they replay the highlights, and repeat the news.

I'm telling you, watch out for those Tigers. And are you serious? I didn't even realize that St. Louis was still in this. Did you see that fantastic catch Dave Roberts made?! The legendary Dave Roberts who kept us alive against the Yankees in 2004? The Dave Roberts who will forever get free food at any Boston restaurant? Ah, yes. That Dave Roberts. And Todd Walker! I found him again.

Okay, summing up the NFL this weekend: Tommy, pulled it off, but still worries me. What's with just "pulling it off"? I know the score looked great, but it didn't feel like that the whole time. And I know the Dolphins give 'em a hard time every time, but he seems so frustrated all the time. It's frustrating me. I think he needs anger management. The T.O. game was a bust (rematch on Christmas). And Ben?! Oh my. He shouldn't have lost this, but I have no energy to complain and do the diagramming.

So what's going on with Payton Manning. Oh brother, go ahead.

Happy as Well

What a way to start the Series, Dear Roxy.

Derek Jeter breathes October baseball and he didn't disappoint. I mean, come one, the guy went 5-5 with two doubles and a home run! Only 5 other guys have had 5 hits in a game in postseason history. 5!

Chien-Ming Wang was incredible as well, as was Abreu and Giambi. Needless to say, we had a great night, great game and hopefully we'll just continue with it.

Santana didn't disappoint as the Twin fell to Barry Zito and the A's. Whoever counted Zito out must feel pretty bad right about now. That guys comes up big everytime! Santana was great as well; he only allowed 2 runs.

And the Cards won. Whatever.

The Mets seem to be having lots of problems before their first postseason game. With Martinez (bah) out, and now El Duque, who's gonna pitch for them? I don't think Glavine can do it all. I suppose the offense is gonna have to start picking it up just about now.

No need to update me on DWTS since I was flipping it back and forth with the game, but do on GG. Maybe not. Not sure.

A Happy Tom Brady (Finally) is a Happy Roxy

Oh boy, Dear Criss, you are so lucky it's not the Twins. Last time I checked, the Tigers were catching up. I'll fill you in on Dancing with the Stars and GG. I just barely got home from work in time. ARGGGG!!!! I'll stick with the Pats who really showed some commentators that they need to stop ruling them out. I don't remember if it was Fox or CBS that said the Pats would lose. All of the guys agreed. FORGET IT!!! And those crazy Bengals need to stop the excessive force issues. Geez. Did you see that highlight?! And who made the decision to draft Maroney? Give him a bonus. That kid doesn't stop running!

Watch out Miami. Oh man, those poor Dolphins. No pressure. Let's see if the Steelers can also come back and take care of business.

A very tired, Roxy

October Baseball...

... And nowhere in it do I see the Red Sox. How great it is to be a Yankee fan. And how great it is to brag about it to my Red Sox friend. That being you, Dear Roxy.
OK, enough bragging because we haven't even gotten started.

The Yankees start their playoff run tonight against the Tigers. I must admit I feel better about facing them than I do about facing the Twins. Toward the end of the weekend, I was just rooting for the team that was gonna make the Yankees go off to the next round.... and if it's the Tigers, than so be it.

I don't think I'm making sense now. It must be that Stats test I have tonight making me write gibberish. After taking that test, and wondering why I didn't do better, I have to run home to catch the first pitch.

I guess someone is gonna update me on Dancing with the Stars and GG.
