New Names

What's up with the shrine at Yankee Stadium II, Dear Criss? Wow! So right now, the Sox are playing your stinkin' Yankees. How nice of Martinez to keep your catcher from eating the dugout floor last night. It would be nice to sweep you guys tonight. And then, we have to play AGAIN next weekend. Alright already! Enough! But if we can keep you from clinching AL East for a while, so be it - at least for this weekend.

The Patriots decided to play good ball today and won. Who's Danny Woodhead? Gotta keep my eye on him. Brett Favre also won, and somehow the Steelers are 3-0. But I'm trying to get used to not paying attention to the Steelers. It's a little weird, but I just can't keep tabs on them anymore. I am paying attention to how McNabb is adjusting in Washington. A little worried, but I'm going to bet that he wins the next game. I imagine you're watching the Dolphins-Jets game. Is next week the Monday night game against the Pats? Can't wait!

Closer to the Edge

The Yankees are fighting for the AL East title and all I can do is root, root, root, Dear Roxy. And in between, I cuss, bite my nails, cheer, scream and go to sleep exhausted. It sure feels like a post season series.

The Yankees have also unveiled the largest monument in Monument Park belonging to none other than The Boss. It's a little big, but what can you do? And speaking of The Boss, I'm sure you watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "The House of Steinbrenner."

We play your Sox this weekend. Let's hope they take it easy... they're not going anywhere anyway. I kid - not!

The Canes play Pittsburgh today so wear your green and orange, Rox. I'm sure this will be the only time we agree on something sports-related.

Let's Focus on Football - Next Week

Whirlwind weekend in football. HOW did the Dolphins beat the Vikings? I'm a little scared about how the Vikings will transition into Week 3. And the Patriots fall to the trash talking Jets. The Stinkin' Jets, Dear Criss. Right now, I'm watching a nail-biter between Houston and the McNabb Show. Actually, Washington just lost. I don't like this weekend.

The Sox are just doing their duty, but the season's over. Now I guess I'll root for (gulp) Tampa Bay to knock you out. Who's leading in the NL? Oh yes, and Lowell says he's going to retire.

As for the Heisman drama, well, it's a shame. I'm not taking sides, but it's a sad moment in history.

Wake me up when September ends

I know this is my first post in about 2,347 days so let’s get to it.

Football is here and what a great weekend it was! The Dolphins won their season opener; their first season open win in about 6 years I believe. But the Colts lost though. I’m guessing they still think they’re in pre-season. Get to it, Peyton! Oh, can I just tell you how happy I was when I learned that Romo and the Cowboys lost? Very happy indeed.

Speaking of losing and winning, and losing again, how about the AL East, Dear Roxy?

I can’t bear to watch these games. It wouldn’t be as bad if the Yankees weren’t losing to the Orioles… the Orioles(!), and then getting swept by the booming Rangers!

I’m just glad we’re back on top, for now. Tonight’s game will probably be as close as the last two. And while the Rays and Yankees are fighting each other, the creepy Red Sox are getting closer and closer. I can’t take this. Wake me up when September ends!

And people need to stop talking bad about Jeter and his ailing numbers. They need to realize he's the driving force on the team. The guy that gets on base and scores the runs and the guy that's always hustling to first base on a grounder, among many things. And they seem to forget he's also known as Mr. October #2.

Reggie loses the Heisman. What else is new?

Uber Blog Hog: Rafa!

Football's back! So what's been going on (besides you being lost in la-la land somewhere, Dear Criss)? Well, Tom Brady won Week 1, after a scary car accident, and Moroney got traded (are you kidding). I'm not even phased anymore by these nutty trades. The Pats do it like it's no big deal. I'm surprised Brady has a new contract. Then there's Favre, who people are saying looks old and tired. Give me a break, people. Call me in January when he's in the playoffs. McNabb? I hope he does really well in Washington. I'm not gonna buy a jersey, but I'll be rooting for him. Hey, have you seen that show "Homecoming" with Rick Reilly? I caught it tonight; it featured McNabb. Really nice, down-to-earth, gentleman. Too bad I only caught the end.

And now poor baseball is on the back burner.

Oh, yes! Congrats to Rafa Nadal. What a match! Did you catch any of it? His first career grand slam.

Super Duper Blog Hog: One More Year!

So how was kickball, Dear Criss? Where are you? Well, let me update you on everything Boston.

It's time to start talking about "what to do with 'Tek." They say it like it's a disease or something. Good heavens, I hate this. He already took a backup role. I say keep him. The team does lousy when he's out and lousy when he's injured. Papelbon loses his grip completely, and Beckett doesn't stray too far. But he brings wisdom and his bat wasn't too bad. We keep sleepy people for years, but we debate keeping Varitek who is dedicated to studying the numbers and working hard? I'm lobbying for one more year. He can't possibly wear another uniform, and he can teach all the other catchers a thing or two.

And then there's Tom Brady. I actually don't care too much, but it's always amusing to see the numbers. Did anyone really think that the Pats would drag this out into a conflict situation? They say the deal is near. Whether it is or not, people are just looking for drama. Brady's guaranteed at least three years. Come on.

Super Blog Hog: Winding Down the Season

Manny Delcarmen was traded. I know I begged for them to do that for years now, but they actually did it, and I kinda feel sad. He's been a part of the team for so long ... No more, "Oh no! They put in Delcarmen! Game over." Well, there are one or two other people I may have traded before him.

On the Varitek front, apparently he feels he's "ready to go" according to WEEI. Well, I'm glad he waited until after my trip to feel so ready! It's fine. I actually don't want him to waste his time for the last few games. Heal and come back strong in 2011. His numbers were doing so well and will hopefully do the same next year.

Alright, football is almost here. The latest debate was, Will we see Tebow play this season? I think you. How about you, Dear Criss? Are you there? Gonna have to put up a bunch of Sox pictures if you don't come back soon. Hee, hee.

Last item: Bucky is the AL pitcher of the month for August. That's my boy!
