Rox Has Taken Over!

Dear Roxy, first and foremost, I’m sorry it’s taken me all this time to get back into Sporting Gals. Promise to be more attentive from here on.

Now to business…
I have ran my first half marathon!!!! I ran the Miami ING almost a month ago and came in under my goal of 2 hours, which I thought was stretching it. For those who don’t know (Rox), that’s very decent for a newbie. :) I couldn’t be happier for myself and I’m ready to run my second. When will that be? Maybe as soon as March 6th but we’ll see.

Go Pack go!

I have also been to my first AND second hockey game, both within two weeks from each other. Go figure. It’s definitely a lot better than watching it on TV.

I haven’t been following the Heat as much as I should, but I'm very happy for the Heat's James Jones for winning the All-Star's 3-point contest. Now the pressure is on him to come through in those game-ending 3-point shot situations, don’t you think?

But the one who stole the show, in my opinion, was the Clippers’ Blake Griffin and his amazing over the car dunk!

In baseball news, baseball is here! Oh, how I’ve missed it. I can smell the green all the way from my office.

BH to Infinity: Jerry, No!

We are amazingly delinquent, Dear Criss. And your new schedule is killing our blog! I need to talk to your boss.

So what's going on? Um, please, talk to me about anything but Carmelo. I can't bear hearing anymore about him. Just because he's in NY doesn't mean that NY is suddenly going to the finals. Too much hype.

About Jerry Sloan. Why is he gone? This is ridiculous. I'm so upset about this rushed departure, a la Bobby Bowden. I really hope this wasn't about a player bumping him out. When did players gain so much power? Even the assistant coach, Phil Johnson, decided he'd leave, too, supporting Sloan. According to ESPN, he said, "I came with him and I'll leave with him."

What do we do after football? Oh, yes, SPRING TRAINING! You can feel it in the air. The nice breeze, the warm sun. Ah. Red Sox baseball. A new year of hope and expectations.

Super Duper Blog Hog: Good Things Come ...

... to those who wait, Chris Berman pointed out last night. Wow, that post-game interview got really emotional, Dear Criss. I don't think Tom Jackson knew what to do with himself during that love fest (I loved it) between Berman, Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers. I'm so happy for the kid. He was pretty happy, too, to be sitting with Steve Young, one of the players he looked up to as a kid, in addition to Montana. Coming from Chico, CA, he had a front row seat to the drama of Steve vs. Joe. Who knew he'd be part of a similar drama: Aaron vs. Brett? Well, no more questioning him. He did it. Maybe I rooted for him because I, too, remember the Young/Montana saga.

Don't get any ideas. This gal's not becoming a Packers or Rodgers fan. This was a one-time deal, kids.

Super Blog Hog: Super MVP & Neon Lights

Tom Brady wins the MVP again, Dear Criss. I'm sure he would have traded that to be the MVP of tonight's game.

Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Pack wins. I wonder if destiny is on Aaron Rodgers side. Just like Steve Young waited behind Joe Montana, and he eventually did it on his own. Nobody's talking about Rodgers. I think he's going to surprise us. It'll be a tough game, I'm not stupid.

But now, let me give a little love to Prime Time, Neon Deion Sanders. He created the style in the post-TD celebration. Nobody could or can do it like him. He sang, he danced, he picked up interceptions at key moments, he fought on the field ... what a character! And Ed Sabol, creator of NFL Films is going in, too. That's pretty cool. What would football be without NFL Films? I'm looking forward to this ceremony in Canton.
