But Theo, I Thought We Had Something Special

I thought I would write something nice about Tedy Bruschi coming back. And yes, what a moment last night. The camera cutting to him and the guys slapping him across the back, then cutting to his wife who looked like she would hold her breath the whole game - I mean, ESPN threw in some dramatic music, a great video intro., and I think all Pats fans at home were ready to cry from the emotion.

BUT INSTEAD, I find myself writing this post about THEO resigning. About THEO leaving! About THEO who represented smart young people everywhere and showed that it is possible for a young professional to make educated decisions. About THEO who was a breath of fresh air to the organization. About Theo who made some crazy decisions that ended up working. Well, friends, as my sister said, may Theo never end up associated in any capacity with NY. Sorry, Dear Criss. Not like they'd ever accept him. Besides, he's a Brookline, Mass. boy. I didn't even know him. Hope he was nice, 'cause I wrote a whole thing here. I'm just nervous, that's all. Nervous about what's gonna happen.

Don't get me started on Manny wanting to leave (again). I can't handle all this at once. And we thought there'd be nothing to write about after the season.

Nice pics, Criss. Great thing you put together there. And the nerve to tell me to stop reliving the good ol' days of last season! Wait 'til the anniversary of the parade (Did I miss that?)! =) -Roxy

A week after Wilma

Sooooo, it's been a long time. I am so sorry, but there was nothing I could do. Wilma was sooo annoying.... Can we say no more hurricanes, please? The only hurricanes we want here are those UM Canes, no more!!!! And we still have one more month! WOW!!!
So, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! I am dressed as a vampire.... Well, close to it. Put on a black dress and a cape, and that's my costume. And yours?
OK, so the White Sox won. Congrats to them. They really did deserve it... And can you stop with your damn Red Sox... That was so last year!
Oh, yeah, Audioslave rocked, and as promised, this is my montage of the Green Day concert.... Loved it!!!!!!!

Post Wilma: No More Hurricanes, Please. Just Good Times.

Dear Criss,

Are you there? How'd you make it through Wilma? Wow, that was something else. We'll talk. I know we're all just trying to return to normal. Power back today. Hope you're in good shape. No more sitting in FEMA lines - EVER! A BIG thank you to my friend kiminarkansas.blogspot.com for her help in finding FEMA relief, water advisories, garbage collection schedules, moral support, etc.

So I didn't even know who won the World Series, what day it's been or what month we're in. So it's the White Sox. Well, I think we both kinda saw this one coming. Tonight--my first with power--I would like to remember the anniversary of the Red Sox winning the World Series. Smile, smile, smile, smile. Did you see any highlights of the White Sox winning? Boooring. It's like they won BINGO or something. Show some excitement, boys.

Ah, Those Were the Days

Dear Criss,

You knew it was coming. The anniversary - yesterday, Oct. 20, 2004 - of the most wonderful day in Red Sox history. The day that seriously rivals the day to come later this month when we won the World Series. (Yes, that was very important, too. I won't ignore that. I value that day incredibly.) The day we beat your darling Yankees. The day I thought Karl Ravech on Baseball Tonight was gonna cry. Let's take a moment to daydream about that magical moment.

(Daydream here.)

So Audioslave. Well, it's not Billy Joel Bob Thornton. Love the pic. You gotta put up your Billy Joe pic for no reason. Promise? Oh, don't worry about this week's GG. They left the goodies for the end, so tune in next week. I'll fill you in later.

More RSN news. Dale Sveum - gone. Um, what's Wells' problem now? Fans in Boston liked him and apparently, it's annoying. Check out bostondirtdogs.com for the great quote. And the schedule is out, folks. Guess what I'm doing on June 30-July 2? I'll be at Joe Robbie, friend. Gotta start saving.

Okay, I gotta go count my hurricane candles supply. Hurricane, hurricane, go away...

Audioslave

Dear Roxy,
Ok, I don't think I mentioned this to you, but I went to an AUDIOSLAVE concert last night at the Convocation Center. OMG, what a great concert!!!! They rocked, so now I have a renewed (because I had one before, but I'd forgotten about it) crush for Chris Cornell. He's so amazingly hot and the concert was just insane. I was literally a few feet away from him as my picture shows.... just like my other amazingly great crush: Billy Joe from Green Day.... Loving my concerts...
About shopping, don't forget to pick up some essentials for the Hurricane Wilma. Can you say I've had enough. Wilma has officially ruined my Horror Nights weekend....
And I like V, too.... Great legs ;)
I totally missed GG, I had a concert to go to.... Bring me up to date!

I Know Where I'm Doing My Shopping

Ah, it was this week a year ago when great things were happening for the Red Sox. Great things that were so magical ... What could ever possibly top that? Dave Roberts and The Steal. Big Papi, Manny. The Slap (courtesy of A-Fraud) has not yet happened, though.

So we agree on UM football?! I didn't know that, Dear Criss. Did I know that? Wow, so much for being friends for a long time.

Okay, I have a theory. I think BJ's is secretly a Red Sox and Pats fan. Sooo they're located in Mass... But look, last year, they sent me a magazine with Curt Schilling on it. This year/this month, they sent me a magazine with my favorite current football player, Adam Vinatieri. Most Pats fans want a Tommy B. jersey (like you, but I'll get you one for Christmas), but I want the Adam V. jersey. I think I'll stick with BJ's.

The comeback that wasn't

Dear Roxy, I think it's the beginning of the end for your beloved Patriots. They are now 3-3. Oh, oh, I think Brady's girlfriend is keeping him too busy; he's no longer concentrating. Watch out now...
Oh, man, how about those White Sox? I mean, after that extra out, they just went on a roll... To give them credit, they've been playing good baseball and they deserve it. And how about their pitching perfomances? Standing ovation required. And why are you not rooting for them? What's the deal this time???? And the NL: Astros and Cardinals. Those birds need a great comeback now....
Back to football.... And something we can agree on :p

So, Now We Just Watch the Others...Maybe

Okay, Dear Criss, so I don't know if you've noticed some of those crazy calls in the last Angels-White Sox games, but I'm thinking baseball needs to look at their football friends and bring in instant replay. Maybe one review per game. Is that unreasonable? Clearly, I'm not rooting for the White Sox. The game's still going, and I'm wondering if the Angels are gonna pull through. Hm. Having doubts, but who knows?

Anyway, as for other news going on, did you hear about Tedy Bruschi coming back? Wow, that was a surprise. I mean, that's great, but I hope he really is fit for this. The Pats could certainly use him; did you see who won today's Pats-Broncos match-up? Scary. I thought it might be one of those exciting comebacks. Nope. Is this going to be an off-year for the Pats? Uh-oh. -Roxy

Still not good

So, I still haven't recovered from our early playoffs exit. As a Yankee fan, I am used to the Yankees playing well into October so when we lost (Yes, WE....) Monday, I didn't know what to do with myself. I still don't. I guess I still have a few more weeks til baseball is over and I can go back to watching some really good shows on Fox, especially PRISON BREAK! If you haven't seen it, watchu waitin' for???? It's a great show full of thrills and two very good looking brothers.... What else can you ask for?
As for my Yankees, there's always next year.... :(

Steve's#1...and #8

First I'd like to say simply that you Yankees fans sure know how to throw around insults. Geez. Never something nice to say.

Now, I wasn't going to post, but I'd like to point out that today is Steve Young's birthday--my most favoritest (for emphasis, do you feel the emphasis) of all football players everrrrr. I will say more about our dear Steve during our Year in Sports wrap up. Here's to Steve Young in the Hall of Fame! And thank you, P., for all of the great Steve stuff.

Our season is over

Unlike you, Rox, I'm still numb. Give me a few days or weeks or months to get back to normal. I wish I had something to say, but I don't. The only thing that consoles me is that at least we didn't get swept... Wow, that was mean, but at least is the truth. I'll get back to you tomorrow, when I get the feeling back...

Red Sox Season Post Script

Well, after a few days to take a deep breath, Dear Criss, I have found peace with the season. I think because of all of the magic of last season, I can find Zen. After a mini-tirade during my last post, I wish all of the players -- especially Renteria -- the manager and general manager good will toward men. They may come back next season to do even better. I will sit back and finish the last few chapters of "Faithful," and dream of the green grass and hot days of spring training. I don't know when your season will be over -- I know you have a big night tonight -- but I think when it is, we should do "The Best of the Season: Moments of Greatness (that We Can Remember)." -Rox

I Would Have Written This Story Differently

Yes, I hung up on you, Dear Criss, but I promise I don't hate you or anything. It just wasn't a fluke. We made history in more than just a flukish way last year. It was hard work, determination and skills. Nobody could have done that ... Well, I guess nobody has done that until us last year, and I CHALLENGE anyone to do that again in the next 80-some years. So you better believe I'm proud of them. As for this year's performance, well, where do I begin?

How about by saying, "WHAT WAS THAT?!" Um, that was noooo way to go down. You'll be the first to hear the following here. Did anyone notice that Renteria made the last out in the World Series last year, ending St. Louis' season and ended this series tonight, ending our season?! Coincidence? Kinda weird, dohntcha think? If I ever have to see Varitek looking so sad again, I'll cry. And why in the world didn't they put in Millar earlier? I mean we literally had nothing to lose, and I think he could've really done something. If they trade Millar tomorrow, I'll cry again. There's a lot of crying going on. Listen, so much for these folks they brought in this year (ahem, Epstein). I don't want to hear it from "Insult the Fans" Foulkie, from "Tour the Country with My New CD" Arroyo, from "Wave 'Em In" Sveum, or "Keep 'Em In" Francona. Well, I have a little more patience left in me for Francona, but listen, don't test my patience. Criss, not because I'm not a fan, but I really, honestly do not have a good feeling about your NY. Let's both agree to cheer against the White Sox.

And, on a happier note, I look forward to spring training. I look forward to the regular season games scheduled down here, and I look forward to taking many, many pictures.

We need a win

So... my beloved Yankees didn't win Wednesday night, which means we must win tonight! We do not want to go down 1-2 in such a short series. Wow, tonight's game is huge... good think we have a huge guy going for us; Randy. I can't wait!!!
So, Rox, where are you? Are you still hiding underneath your bed since the Sox are down 0-2? Get up already, there's a game today....
And that conversation (or lack there of) was no fun. For you people out there... Rox was rude enough to hang up on me TWICE because I said that the Red Sox win last year was a fluke... Newsflash for you, regardless if it was a fluke, or pure talent or whatever it was, THEY STILL WON!!! No need to hang up on people :P

Good start

Hey, Rox, allow me to update you: The Yankees won last night..... 4-2.
The Yankees took Game 1 and I couldn't be happier. The rookie, Cano, made all the difference in last night's game. But we can't forget about the Moose, he pitch great. We just have to play more aggressively. It might have been me, but I sure did see a lot of fly outs last night... hmm...
Anyway, I've sorry (not, really) your Red Socks lost yesterday :p
Anyway, tomorrow will be a loooong day. I gotta go, I gotta make sure I have my cafe con leche ready for tomorrow morning.
Peace... oh, yeah, Remember destiny ends in NY.

"After All, Tomorrow is Another Day..."

...And so said darling Scarlett O'Hara. Matty, what happened? As for you, Dear Criss, enough with the nonsense of, "Oh, we went easy on you because we wanted to fly all the way across the country to play in California against the Los Angeles Anaheim San Bernadino Sacramento Angels." Please. I haven't checked your score yet, but um, 14-2 is awful. I don't want to talk about it. I still believe they can pull this one together. I'll let my boys get some sleep tonight. I can't even discuss this right now (Did I already say that?). I'm going to sleep it off myself.

It's a Beautiful Day

It's a beautiful day in sunny South Florida (what am I saying? It's muggy and ugly outside!), but it's sunny in my eyes. My Yankees have made it to the post-season. It took a lot of hard work, but it's been done... and better yet, at Fenway, in front of the Red Sox nation!!!!!! Oh, what a beauty it was... Seeing them celebrate in front of the Red Socks faithful (including Bennifer Part 2)... And by the way, Ms. R, the Yankees took it lightly Sunday. We want everyone healthy and ready for the post-season. Duh :p

Enough of that, it's a clean slate for everyone, and now we have to face the Angels... OK, so here's my thing... why two different city names? Come on, decide on one and then we'll talk.... Soon enough I'm gonna see the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Marlins! Puh-lease! Come on!!! Plus, Anaheim and LA are like 30 miles apart...

Anyway, I am so ready for tonight, but I don't know about tomorrow night, though. The game starts at 10 pm, that means I'll be up until 2 or 3 am tomorrow. Ouch! I would need some serious cafe con leche come Thursday morning.

Ok, Ok. I need to go now (I have to pretend to work, you know) but not before wishing the Yankees the best in the post-season. Let's win 11 games!!! And remember, Destiny ends in NY.

Things are Looking Up

Boston Globe Staff Photo/Stan Grossfeld; BostonGlobe.com

Um, earth to Criss in one of the biggest moments of the week!!! Hello? Why did we start this blog? Are you crying? I mean, I know you're Ms. AL East now, but was Sunday's game just too much for you? I need to share my happiness, my Manny for Boston Mayor moments, my "Why can the Yankees run outside of the lines and unto the grass to get to base and not get called out" moments, as well as the "Why can the Yankees go get more pine tar when they're up to bat when no one else can according to league rules" moments. I think I remember being in this Wild Card position before. Much to discuss, but thank you Red Sox for the 10-1 score, and let's give it up for Curty. The red sock man still has it.
