Blog Hog: Mr. Home Run?

Jason Varitek hit two home runs in one game? This guy's not doing so shabby when he goes in these days, Dear Criss. While Beckett couldn't pull off the win, Lester did! Wish I could have seen this one. At least we didn't get swept.

And now we have to hear about a NBA lockout?! I'm so tired of all this stuff. But if we miss the season, I'm not so sure I would care. On the other hand, if you take away my football, that's a problem.

Speaking of, I was watching the Brady 6 the other day, and it was pretty interesting. It was about Brady being drafted late and what happened to the guys who went before him. I don't know if you would enjoy it as much as I did, but it was still good.

Oh, I know I'm so behind, but I keep forgetting to discuss the Bruins' celebratory bar tab with you. It's hilarious. You have to check it out. All $156,679.74 of it.

She's Back?!

Of course you would come back just in time for Jeter's birthday, Dear Criss! The blog isn't totally Boston, see?

But let's talk about Boston some more.

So, I'm a little behind myself. The last two weeks in sports have been great, though. And the stories about the Bruins parade are fantastic! I wish I was there; how exciting. I forgot how much fun hockey is, actually, how much fun Boston hockey is! The Sox and Pats need to pick up their pace toward another championship.

Dallas is probably still partying for their Mavs. It was really great watching that last game and seeing those guys win. Dirk seems pretty cool and down to Earth. J. Terry just makes me smile every time he opens his mouth!

And now what? ESPN has been showing NFL Films, which means we're a little closer to the new season. Okay, we're still pretty far. I fully expect a complete season. I don't care about what's going on with the players, the union and the owners. Just play.

As for baseball, we're close to that All-Star break. The Sox have been looking good until they started losing to THE PADRES and PIRATES! I hope that they don't lose steam after the break. I know there's a little bit of time to catch up before then.

Birthday Boy (Oh, yes, I'm back!)

I don't even know where to begin, Dear Roxy. I guess I'll start by apologizing for my absence. Sorry, my friend, and I promise to start writing more.

In sports, my boy Derek Jeter is celebrating his 37th birthday today.

Happy Birthday, Jeet!

I hope he's spending his day rehabilitating as I can't wait that much longer for his 3,000th hit!

And in other news, team USA will go against Mexico tonight for the Gold Cup. I know you're dying to see that... with popcorn in hand!

It's a Good Day in Boston

I know I was a doubter, but I'm thrilled about the Bruins' big win. To take this to Game 7 and pull it off is a great feat, especially when everyone was pulling out the statistics against them. Congrats to the guys. I'm officially a Tim Thomas fan.

And the Sox pulled their weight tonight, too.

What a sports week!

They Did It!

Woo Hoo! What a game! I need some sleep, so I'll have to yap another time, but I'm thrilled with the outcome. Did a little victory dance and all.

Now can the Bruins pull off some magic?

Go Bruins!

Okay, it's nearly a week later and the Mavs and Bruins are (channel Randy from "Idol") IN IT TO WIN IT! I love it! They're really trying to make this happen. I'm typing and watching the Mavs game from the corner of my eye. I'm so nervous. I'm a Dirk fan! This guy is tall and lanky and quiet and good! There's something curiously fascinating about his style. But the tightness of these games - it's always tied - is driving me mad!

Switch to hockey. All you needed to see of last night's game were the last 10 minutes. There were fights galore. But maybe if Vancouver stopped biting and sending guys out on stretchers or slapping people's sticks away, there wouldn't be so many fights! I'll tune in again for the last 15 minutes. I really have too much stress right now to handle more than that.

Finally, why is the Yankees-Sox game at midnight (practically) tonight? What's with the late start? Yankees Stadium really emptied out last night, Dear Criss.

Nadal Does it Again!

So the Bruins are close to blowing this thing, Dear Criss. I mean, come on! People are biting fingers and everything. We gotta beat Vancouver!

But I am happy that Dallas finally beat the Heat in game 2. Although, I'm a little scared that it took them until the very end of the game to pull that off. Dirk and Kidd need to pull that team together. To be honest, I don't know if they can do this. If they can, they have a lot of heart.

And what's up with the angry Sox? I know they were upset about the strike zone, but holy cow. Papelbon needs to chill a little. And Varitek got thrown out, too? What's the deal? But we swept Oakland, so I guess it's okay.

What I am okay with is Nadal winning the French Open. Woo hoo!!!
